Mohs Surgery is considered  the most effective technique for treating many Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCCs) and Squamous Cell Carcinomas (SCCs) the two most common types of skin cancer.  It is also used for management of some other skin cancers including Malignant Melanoma, Atypical Fibroxanthoma and Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans. Mohs micrographic surgery is a procedure done in stages to remove the skin cancer while the patient waits. This allows the complete removal of the cancerous cells for the highest cure rate while sparing healthy tissue and leaving the smallest possible scar.
